Mona Lisa

In 2025, I participated in a ten-week course focused on making paint from scratch. During the course we produced our own egg tempera, watercolor, and oil paint. The oil paint I created there became the medium for this piece. The work was inspired by a photograph I took in the Louvre several years ago. Standing in front of the Mona Lisa, I realized that the hysteria surrounding the painting had become almost larger than the portrait itself. In this piece, I wanted to capture the experience of searching for a glimpse of the Mona Lisa from within the crowd.
